The Hydro Hotel enjoys a superb location right on the seafront, offering some guests excellent sea views from spacious rooms, and it is also conveniently located a short walk from the town centre. Recent refurbishments have been noted, and many appreciate the cleanliness of the rooms, even though some found the windows painted shut (fans are provided when needed). Guests particularly enjoy the wide selection of hot food for breakfast and dinner.

a reasonably good stay

sea view car parking cold food burnt bacon
the location proved quite advantageous as it was central to the bay. our room offered a lovely view of the sea. the availability of car parking was a definite bonus.
the breakfast experience presented some issues. food was often cold upon serving. i found the bacon burnt and the sausages had an unusual taste, resembling cardboard. it wasn't the best start to the day.

dusty radiator slow service
My stay had issues that really bothered me. the radiator in the dining room was full of dust (it was a hygiene risk). service was slow when our usual server was off. One morning, it took forever for anyone to take our order. there was no empathy from the deputy manager about this, so i felt annoyed.

A bit disappointing, some issues need attention.

outdated room bad tv placement
The staff were helpful. That's one positive thing I can say.
The room felt quite outdated! One of the wall sockets didn't even work. the TV placement was really strange. It was impossible to watch from the bed. It should have been mounted on the wall.
