Review summary
Based on recent reviews
Powered by AI
The Bear Crickhowell is favored for its central location in Crickhowell, offering easy access to the town center and convenient bus routes to Abergavenny and Brecon. Guests consistently praise the delicious food, especially in the garden, and the cozy atmosphere, enhanced by a log fire, creating a perfect setting. The traditional pub feel, combined with modern rooms, receives positive attention, and some guests have noted that while generally clean, the carpet might occasionally need a more thorough vacuuming. The hotel provides a comfortable and characterful experience, different from typical chain hotels.

central location delicious food friendly staff anti slip mat missing toilet brush dusty carpet
the location was very central. i found very delicious food (i especially liked the garden). the staff were very friendly.
the shower did not have an anti slip mat. there was no toilet brush and apparently, the room service don't have one either. i noticed what looked to be saw dust at the edge of the carpet by the hinge side of the door.

adequate experience

good food value for money friendly staff central position small coffee cups small portions high price
the meals were very good. i found the staff to be friendly. the location is really central (easy to reach hiking routes).
The coffee could have been warmer. The cups were small. the lunch portions seemed small considering the price. my fish came with a very small potato portion (it was disappointing).

mixed feelings after my stay

dated room loud extractor fan
the breakfast was delicious with a great choice of freshly cooked local items.
The room felt quite dated. it lacked special touches for the price. also, the room was very loud in the morning because of the extractor fan coming from the kitchen below. We were woken up earlier than we wanted.
